Jewell’s Rowe Park a 5/1 Southwell gem

Rowe Park shaped as if ready to take advantage of his lenient mark when runner-up last time out and is strongly fancied at 5/1 to go one better in the 4.40 at Southwell today.

Linda Jewell’s 11-year-old has been a terrific servant over the years, winning 11 times in 66 starts.

His last success came at Newmarket in  August 2012 where despite getting upset and rearing in the stalls he ran on gamely to get the better on Invincible Lad by a head off a mark of 81.

He went on to finish runner-up off 84 on the all-weather at Lingfield on his penultimate start of 2012 where he got nailed in the shadow of the post to be beaten a head.

The gelding went on to finish s solid third of 8 to Yeeow at Kempton on his second start last year off the same rating, but then failed to trouble the judged in 8 starts.

However his handicap mark has fell as a result and he shaped as if ready to take advanathe last time out when beaten just a nose by Rambo Will over today’s course and distance.

He has been put up 2lb for that effort to a mark of 74, but that is still 7lb lower than last successful.

It gives him major claims at the weights, especially as he has won 2 of his 4 starts over course and distance.

Apart from when runner-up last time out, he was also placed on the other occasion over CD when third off a rating of 101 behind Noble Storm.

Everything looks in place for a huge run, and with Liam Keniry in the saddle he can score an overdue success.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Rowe Park (5/1 Betfred, BetVictor  – BOG)
