Jungle can keep his rivals at Bay

Jungle Bay is back down to a handy mark and looks worth siding with at 13/2 in the 1.30 at Lingfield after an eye-catching run last time out.

Jane Chapple-Hyam’s charge is not the most straightforward and easy to win with but is more than capable on his day in this grade as he showed when winning a 6f contest on the turf at Yarmouth back in August where he stayed on well to beat Diamondhead by 1 3/4 lengths off a mark of 72.

He was then not at his best in his next two starts off a mark of 77, but there has been much more to like about his last two efforts as he begins to be eased back down the weights.

In the first of those runs at Wolverhampton he was far from disgraced in finishing third of 10 to You’re The Boss off 76, and he then out in a better effort last time up at Lingfield when fourth of 11 to Brother Tiger off 75.

He was backed at long odds that day, and after being held up at the rear began to make good headway twon from home before finding hismelf caught out wide on the home turn.

The six-year-old then hung left inside the last but kept on well to be beaten just 2 3/4 lengths after a far from perfect passage.

It was a  run which suggested his time was near again, and having been dropped another 1lb he is now just 2lb higher than when last successful.

That gives him every chance at the weights inb my book, and another plus is that he goes well for Ted Durcan who is in the saddle again today and has ridden him to 2 of his 4 career successes.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Jungle Bay (13/2 Betfred, Coral, Hills – BOG)
