Juvenal fancied to follow-up

Juvenal did is a favour when getting off the mark last time out and looks overpriced at 11/1 to follow-up in the 3.35 at Salisbury.

Richard Hannon’s colt landed a bit of a touch when backed in from the advised 8/1 into 5/1 and beating Know No Fear by 1/2 a length at Windsor under an inspired Richard Hughes drive.

He got badly hampered 6f from home that day when a horse broke down, and made up a huge amount of ground to weave between horses to lead in the last 50 yards.

The handicapper has put him up 3lb for that effort, but that looks on the lenient side to me as he was value for much more than the winning margin given how the race panned out.

It would also be no surprise to see him improve again now that he has got his head in front, and his form had been solid prior to that success.

He finished an excellent third of 14 to the classy Bonfire in a maiden at Salisbury which has thrown up subsequent winners, and caught the eye on his handicap debut at Windsor in  a class 3 contest when keeping  on from off the pace to finish a never nearer 5th of 12 to Asatir (beaten just over 4 lengths).

I think he is more than capable of holding his own in this class 4 contest, and with Ryan Moore in the saddle a huge run looks on the cards.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2ts each-way Juvenal (11/1 bet365 – BOG)
