Kenny The Captain has been knocking on the door of late and looks worth a punt at 9/2 to gain a deserved success in the 6.00 at Carlisle today.
Tim Easterby’s charge won four times last year with the last of those successes coming off a mark of 85 in a class 3 on the Tapeta at Newcastle.
Prior to that his previous two wins on the turf had come off 72 and 78 and he had also ran well third at Ayr off 84.
He is now able to race in this class 5 affair off 73 and comes into the contest having run well to finish runner-up at Ayr before posting a decent effort to fionish third at Hamilton.
Those were both class 4 affairs and he now drops down into class 5 company in which he has a 26% strike rate.
Kenny The Captain is also versatile as regards ground and will get plenty assistance in the saddle from Emily Easterby in this ladies’ riders handicap.
