Kovalev KO’s by Canelo

Sergey Kovalev a fighter some people thought to be invinsible was sensationally KO’d by Canelo Avlarez in Las Vegas on Saturday night [November 2].

In a cracker of a fight between 2 of the pound for pound best in the business which was into the closing stages when Canelo took the bout via an 11th round KO victory.

Round by Round

Round 1: Kovalev edged the round. Jabbing well throughout and landing 35 to Canelo’s 20.

Round 2: Kovalev’s round again

Rounds 3 – 5: Canelo throwing less but picking his punches better.

Round 6: Canelo landing a lot more and getting better as the fight goes on.

Round 7: Kovalev throwing more shots 3 to 1 but Canelo landing better and not wasting so many shots with Canelo 37% to Kovalev’s 14%

Round 8: Kovalev on top and controling the round.

Round 9: Kovalev warned for using the shoulder. We had it 77-75 to Canelo going into this round but Kovalev edging the round and ending it 86-85 to Canelo.

Round 10: Canelo’s thrown a great right hand. Kovalev comes back well but gets caught again with another BIG righthand that rocks him and backs him up. Kovalev comes back yet again but it’s Canelo’s round. 96-94 Canelo going into the last 2.

Rund 11: Kovalev comes out strong, but again Canelo lands the better shots. Canelo drops him! KO victory for Canelo who softened him with a great left hook and followed it up will a KILLER righthand.
