The well-treated Lean Burn signalled that he was ready to strike when runner-up last time out and is strongly fancied at 11/4 to go one better in the 4.40 at Doncaster today.

Barry Levey’s gelding has not scored since landing back-to-back successes in November 2012, but both those wins came off 81 and he now gets into this off just 79.

That gives him major claims at the weights and the eight-year-old shaped really well last time out when runner-up to Come On Annie at Uttoxter in a race which has worked out well.

He came from off the pace that day to lead at the last before keeping on well to be beaten 2 3/4 lengths and the winner went on to follow-up in impressive fashion off a 5lb higher mark of 101.

The fourth home Catching On, who finished 18 1/2 lengths behind Lean Burn in fourth, has also since come out and bolted up by 9 lengths in a handicap off 95 to give the form a rock solid look in the context of this contest.

The selection gets into this off the same mark of 79, and with the useful Conor Ring in the saddle taking another 3lb of his back looks sure to take all the breting off bottom weight if building on his latest effort.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Lean Burn (11/4 generally available – use BOG firms)
