Leviathan looks lovely at 10s

Leviathan could well be on a handy mark in the 5.30 at Cheltenham today and looks overpriced at 10/1.

The gelding was a fair sort on  the flat and showed plenty of promise in five runs over hurdles last season after joining Venetia Williams.

The six-year-old ran a cracker on his debut over the obstacles when finishing an excellent 4 length third of 12 to Pendra at Plumpton, and the winner is a very useful sort  who went on to finish second in the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle and is now rated 140.

He then got turned over at short odds when finishing only fourth at Ffos Las, but quickly bounced back when going down by just 1 1/4 lengths to Tominator at Sandown.

The selection then duly opened his account at the fourth time of asking when making virtually all to beat Little Dutch Girl by 1 1/2 lengths at Plumpton before disappoiting on his handicap debut when last seen in action at Ludlow.

However the handicapper has been quick to drop him 2lb for that effort to a mark of 120, and that certainly looks exploitable judged on his earlier efforts behind Pendra and Tominator – especially with the likelihood of more to come this season given his lightly raced profile.

He also has the services of Harry Challoner in the saddle who takes another invalauble 3lb off his back, and at the odds on offer makes plenty of each-way appeal.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Leviathan (10/1 BetVictor, Hills – BOG)
