Lily Potts is a fascinating contender now upped in trip in the 5.20 at Bath and looks worth an each-way interest at 20/1.
Chris Down’s filly shaped with bags of promise on her first two starts as a juvenile, staying on stoutly on her debut over at Kempton to finish 8th of 13 to Cresta Star before running a cracker to finish fourth of 15 to Shirocco Star at Newbury over a mile.
The daughter of Proclamation stayed on well in the latter to be beaten just 2 1/2 lengths by the subsequent English and Irish Oaks runner-up and the race has thrown up a host of future winners.
Although she has then well beaten on her final start at two and has subsequently not been at her best in three starts this season, she is now down to a mark of 61 having started life off in handicaps on 70.
That gives her claims in this if able to recapture any of her juvenile form, and being a half-sister to Northumberland Plate winner Tominator she is bred to do better now upped in trip to 1m 5f.
The favourite Aleksander is clearly the one she has to beat, but I think that Luca Cumani’s charge is plenty short enough at 9/4 and at the odds on offer Lily Potts looks overpriced and worth an each-way play in a weak contest.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 1pt each-way Lily Potts (20/1 Hills – BOG)
