Little Jimmy Odsox has slipped to a dangerous mark and looks decent value at 10/1 to exploit it and score a long overdue success in the 1.45 at Wolverhampton today.

Tim Easterby’s charge has not scored since landing a class 5 contest over course and distance back in September 2011 when he ran on well to beat Scarlet Rocks by a neck off a mark of 75.

Since then he has made the frame just once in 14 starts when runner-up to No Poppy at Pontefract last May off 78.

However his handicap mark has plummeted as a result, and it’s interesting that since his last success here he has raced at the course just once and was sent off the 7/2 favourite.

That run came five starts back when he finished a 3 3/4 length 9th of 12 to Galatian and connections clearly thought he was well handicapped off a mark of 67 that day given the market support.

The five-year-old has since cone down another 8lb in the weights and now races off a career-low of just 59.

That gives him a massive chance from a handicapping perspective if bouncing back to anywhere near his best and he didn’t run too badly last time out when 9th of 16 to Bondi Beach Boy on the turf at Beverley where he travelled well in mid division before being unable to make any impression from the furlong marker.

To me he looks just the type that his shrewd stable will place to land a touch, and it could well be that it will come on the all-weather surface.

This class 6 contest is certainly within his compass from his current mark, and from a good draw in stall 1 he makes plenty of appeal for a trainer who does well with his runners at the venue.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Little Jimmy Odsox (10/1 bet365 – BOG)
