Lots to like about Donncha in Lincoln

Donncha has solid form in big field handicaps and looks worth siding with at 10/1 in the Lincoln at Doncaster today (3.35).

Robert Eddery’s six-year-old finishhed runner-up in the Spring Mile on this card 12 months ago before finishing a fine fifth of 19 in a class 1 Listed handicap at York.

He also ran a blinder off his current rating of 100 when a 2 1/4 length third of 29 to Franklin D at Goodwood and shaped far better than the bare result suggests when a 3 3/4 length ninth of 19 to Yuften in the Balmoral Hadicap at Ascot.

Donncha got repeatedly hampered in the latter when trying to make a move and in the end jockey Pat Smullen accepted the situation when trapped behind a wall of horses and allowed him to coast home.

In the cirumstances he did well to finish so close in a rough race and he now meets the winner on 4lb better terms.

The selection is also a hold-up horse and the booking of Jamie Spencer really catches the eye as he is the ideal type to deliver him late on the scene.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Donncha (10/1 bet365, Boylesports – BOG)
