Lots to Like about Lake Volta in Scottish Stewards’ Cup

Lake Volta looks weighted to go well and makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the Scottish Stewards’ Cup at Hamilton today (7.40).

This Mark Johnston trained four-year-old has wine twice this season with the last of those successes coming over the 6f trip of this at Goodwood where he was quick away and made all to win unchallenged by 2 1/4 lengths off a mark of 98.

He backed that up with a solid second at Epsom off 103 and then ran very well off the same rating when a 3 1/2 length eighth of 26 to Cape Byron in the ultra-competitive Wokingham over 6f at Royal Ascot.

Lake Volta also shaped well last time out when a 1 1/2 length fifth of 17 to stable companion Vale Of Lent in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket off 103 when showing plenty of pace to track the leaders and sticking to the task well.

He us now able to race in this off 3lb lower (100) and that makes him look very competituve on the pick of his form.

The drop back to 6f shoud also suit as he has won three times and been placed on three occasions from 12 starts over the trip.

So with the stable continuining to fire in the winners left, right and centre, Lake Volta looks to have lots going for him in this feature contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Lake Volta (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
