Lots to like about the chances of Lord Murphy

Lord Murphy caught the eye last time out and looks worth a punt in the 2.20 at Lingfield today.

The five-year-old finished sixth of 13 to Dor’s Law at kempton but shaped far better than the result suggests.

After racing keenly and being held-up at the rear, Mark Loughnane’s charge was making good headway a furllong from home when denied a clear run.

He kept on nicely to be beaten 4 1/2 lengths without being unduly kncoked about once it was clear he would not be winning, leaving the impression that he finished with petrol left in the tank.

Th assessor has been kind in dropping him another 1lb since, and he is now able to race off a mark of 53.

That is 3lb lower than when last successful at Wolverhampton last April when giving 11lb and a 1/2 length beating to Stamp Duty.

It makes him a big player at the weights if building on his latest effort, especially if the fitting of the hood for the first time enables him to settle better early doors.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Lord Murphy (5/1 Ladbrokes – BOG)
