Mafi is back down to his last winning mark and makes plenty of appeal at 14/1 in the 3.30 at Lingfield today.
Mark Hoad’s geldling is a three times winner over course and distance, with the last of those successes coming back in March where he squeezed through horses and ran on well to beat Cyflymder by a head off 64 in a class 5 contest.
He then went on to finish a solid 3/4 length third of 12 to Greyfriarschorista in a similar grade affair over a mile at Kempton off 65 and has run well to finish third here on two occasions off 66 in class 5 contests.
Although he has not been at his best in his last two outings the handicapper has now dropped him 1lb to a mark of 64 – the same as when last successful – and that gives him every chnace on the pick of his form in this class 6 contest.
His last two wins have both come in class 5 races, so he should now be really competitive again in this slightly lower grade.
The five-year-old laos has the services of the useful Jordan Vaughan in this apprentice “hands and heels” handicap, and everything looks in place for a huge run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Mafi (14/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
