Magnificent seven for Hughes



Richard Hughes left bookmakers running for cover at Windsor today after an astonishing 10,168-1 seven-timer.

The champion jockey-elect gwon the first two races on the eight-race card for his father-in-law Richard Hannon aboard Pivotal Movement (13-8 joint-favourite) and East Texas Red (5-2 favourite).

He then partnered Amanda Perrett’s Embankment (7-1) to victory, followed by the Jeremy Gask-trained Magic Street (4-1 favourite), who strolled to a five-length win.

Next up was Links Drive Lady made it five out of five for the rider in division two, and then came his only loser on the caed when Ever Fortune finished third.

It was then back to business a the Hannon-trained Duke Of Clarence (7-4 favourite) battled on bravely for victory to make it six, and Hughes then got aboard Mama Quilla (15/8 favourite) in the finale to make it a magnificent seven.
