Malicho and Cosgrave can strike at Lingfield

Malicho has been given a big chnace by the handicapper and looks worth siding with at 9/1 min the 3.20 at Lingfield today.

The gelding won twice in France last year when trained by Andre Fabre and started life off in a class 3 handicap at Newbury on a mark of 84 after joining Dean Ivory.

The five-year-old has failed to trouble the judge in seven starts for Ivory, but the assessor has been quick to cut him plenty of slask and he now gets into this off just 55.

That makes Mailco look on a very workable mark, and he hasn’t shaped too badly on his last two starts.

In the firest of those he led until fading late on to finish a 3 3/4 length 10th of 11 to Sabre Rock over course and distance, and he backed that up with a staying on never nearer 9 lengtth fifth of 8 at kempton over 1m 4f last time out when attracting market support for the first time.

If he can build on those efforts he would have every chance in this weak looking class 6 contest, and the booking of Pat Cosgrave to do the steering looks a big positive

He has a 33% strike rate when teaming up with the yard in the last 12 months, and the fcat that he now partners Malicho for the first time suggests connections mean business.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Malicho (9/1 BetVictor, Ladbrokes, William Hill – BOG)
