Manu v Otelul Galati preview

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that striker Wayne Rooney will play in tonight’s Champions League game against Otelul Galati (7.45pm Ko, Live on Sky Sports), and that makes the 11/4 on offer about him scoring the opener look good value.

Rooney was a substitute for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool following his sending off for England.

“When he came on against Liverpool he was quite bubbly. He was full of energy and enthusiasm. He was desperate to get on, which is good,” said Ferguson.

United are a top priced 2/9 and should have little difficulty landing the odds.

Otelul Galati, nicknamed the Steelworkers, were the surprise winners of the Romanian championship last season – their first title – and will meet United at Bucharest’s National Arena as their ground is not up to Uefa standards.

Rooney will be eager to make a statement and is also a top priced 8/11 with Boylesports to score anytime.

He will surely get on the score sheet and that looks better value than backing United to win the game.
