Maz looks to have been found a nice opening in the 2.00 at Lingfield today and makes plenty of appeal at 10/1.
Alan Bailey’s mare readily opened her account when beating Polar Auroras by 2 3/4 lengths in a class 5 handicap at Wolverhampton over 1m 1f back last March off a mark of 60 and now gets into this class 6 contest off 59.
That gives her every chance at the weights and she has shaped in her last three starts as if she could be ready to captalise on her falling mark.
She was beaten just 1 3/4 lengths into fourth behdin Zenarinda over course and distance off 61, and then found the drop back to a mile againsty her when fourth of 8 to Daniel Thomas next time up.
However she put in a much better effort last time out at Wolverhampton when back up in trip to 1m 1f and beaten just 2 3/4 lengths into third behind the well-handicapped Berlusca off today’s mark of 59.
The daughter of Needwood Blade raced at the head of affairs that day and led until being headed inside the last and being unable to find any extra.
That form looks strong in the context of this race, and with Natasha Eaton now in the saddle and taking another 5lb off Maz’s back a big run looks on the carsd in a race that lacks strength in depth.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Maz (10/1 Betfred – BOG)
