Meetings Man of major interest

Meetings Man isn’t the easiest to win with but there is no doubting he is well handicapped in the 5.05 at York and looks terrific each-way value at 10/1.

Mickey Hammond’s charge hasn’t scored on the level since winning at Hamilton in 2010, but he put in a number of highly creditable efforts last season off much higher mark’s than the 65 he races off today.

The five-year-old ran a cracker when third of 16 to Crackentorp here in the Queen Mother’s Cup off 74, and went on to finish runner-up twice times off marks of 75 and 78.

He has also been running as if coming back to form in his last three starts, and with crack apprentice Darren Egan taking another 3lb of his back looks weighted to score an overdue success on ground that he relishes.

Despite the size of the field I don’t think this is as competitive as it looks on paper, and it’s hard to see meetings Man not being in the thick of things at the business end of proceedings.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Meetings Man (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
