Menadati and Catlin a potent combination

Menadati was a massive eye-catcher last time out and looks decent value at 6/1 in the 1.50 at Lingfield today.

Peter Hiatt’s gelding missed the kick completely in a mile contest at Kempton eight days ago before making  good late headway on the inside  to finish 5th of 13 to Lord Of The Dance.

Although beaten 5 1/2 lengths he finished full of running without being knocked about by his young rider Paul Booth.

It was an effort which suggested he would have gone close given a clean break and stronger handling and he now gets into this off the same mark of 60.

That gives him every chance at the weights, as he is now just 5lb higher than when landing a gamble when registering his last success at Chepstow back in September.

He proved that day what he is capable of when things drop right, and although he is not the easiest to predict and has a habit of missing the break this is his grade and the looking of Chris Catlin looks a positive one as he needs strong handling.

It is also worth remembering that he was rated 74 when winning as a juvenile for David Lanigan and went on to finish fourth to the very useful Pisco Sour in a Windsor handicap off a mark of 80 – so he is more than capable of winning races off his current mark.

Granted a level break he looks sure to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Menadati (6/1 bet365, Betfred, BetVictor, Hills, Stan James – BOG)
