The lightly raced Moment In Time could well be one step ahead of the handicapper and is strongly fancied at 7/2 to make a winning reappearance in the 7.00 at Bath this evening.
David Simcock’s filly showed progressive form throughout last season, winning her maiden on the all-weather at Lingfield over a mile before going on to land a handicap at Brighton on soft ground over today’s trip of 1m 2f off a mark of 70.
She only had to be ridden out that day to beat Seven Veils by a head after being carried badly left and was value for far more than the winning margin.
The daughter of Tiger Hill then finished a 1 length last of four in a muddling affair at Kempton off 75, before putting in a career best effort on her final start when chasing home Lady Loch in a competitive class 3 handicap on heavy ground at Haydock off the same mark.
She led two from home that day after racing up with the pace and rallied strongly when headed a furlong out to go down by just a length.
The winner, from whom she was receiving just 2lb, went on to land a decent class 2 handicap at Pontefract on her seasonal reappearance in good style off a rating of 82 and give the form a solid look in the context of this class 4 affair.
I think that the selection is the type who has plenty more to offer this season, and will be surprised if she does not prove better than her current rating of 78.
With the trip and ground fine, this looks a good opportunity for her to notch another success.
