Monday looks magic at 85/40

The 1.40 at Hereford today looks a straight match on paper between Oscar Hill and Not Til Monday, and the latter makes plenty of appeal at 85/40 to come out on top.

John Jenkins’ charge is a fairly useful front running hurdler who landed handicaps at Leicester and Fakenham in 2011/12.

The last of those success came on soft ground, where he made all and ran on strongly to beat Black Mac by 21 lengths.

Since then he has been mainly campaigned on the level, and he put in a couple of creditable efforts in the summer when twice finishing in the frame.

He now reverts to hurdles in what is a terribly weak seller, and is very well-treated by the race conditions.

The six-year-old is officially rated 128 – the same as the hat-trick seeking odds-on jolly Oscar Hill – yet gets 10lb from Gordon Elliott’s charge.

His main rival has also been plying his trade in this type of event, whereas this represents a drop in class for Not Til Monday.

I certainly don’t think that Oscar’s Hill is a worthy odds-on favourite, and Not Til Monday looks too big a price at 85/40 given that he could well get his own way up front and simply relishes testing conditions.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Not Til Monday (85/40 BetVictor – BOG)
