Mud-loving Accession holds all the aces at Salisbury

Accession has his optimum conditions in the 5.00 at Salisbury today and at 7/2 rates the best bet on the card.

Clive Cox’s colt was a useful juvenile, winning on his second start on good-to-soft ground at Newbury before finishing a solid 4th of 10 to Gusto in a listed contest at Doncaster.

He made a successful reappearance last year when staying on gamely to beat Big Note over 6f in a conditions event at Leicester off an official rating of 96 on soft ground, and went on to run some solid races and finish in midfield in decent class 2 contest won by Mince and Fulbright off marks in the mid 90s.

The four-year-old then shaped really well on his seasonal reappearance when staying on to finish 6th of 25 to Half A Sixpence in the class 2 Spring Mile at Newbury off a mark of 87, and although he failed to build on that effort in his next three starts he hinted that he could be on the way back when finishing 5th of 10 to Askaud at Leicester and then confirmed that impression when third of 16 to Magic City over 7f at Goodwood last time out.

He was slowly away that day but made good headway from the rear two from home and kept on well to be beaten just 1 3/4 lengths in what was a competitive class 3 contest.

The handicapzper has put him back up 2lb for that effort, but he is still dangerously well-treated off 80 on the pick of his form and now drops down in grade into class 4 company.

He also drops back to 6f, over which he has registered both his career successes, and also gets the soft ground that he relishes.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts each-way Accession (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
