Mud-loving Dark Ruler weighted to deliver

Dark Ruler is back down below his last winning mark and rates a solid bet at 6/1 in the 2.30 at Catterick today.

Alan Swinbank’s charge was last successful in the mud at Pontefrcat back in October 2014 when scoring by 1/2 a length off a rating of 83 in a class 4 contest.

He was also far from disgarced on his final start of that year when fifth of 23 to Open Eagle in the class 2 November Handicap at Doncaster off 88, and also ran well on two occasions in class 3 contests last year to make the frame off 86.

The seven-year-old is now able to race in this weak looking class 4 affair off just 81, 2lb lower than when last successful.

It gives him major claims at the weights on the pick of his form, and with underfoot conditions ideal this looks a golden opportunity for Dark Ruler to get back to winning ways.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Dark Ruler (6/1 Boylesports, Ladbrokes – BOG)
