Now that he has the soft ground he relishes, the well-weighted Kenny The Captain is strongly fancied to score an overdue success in thr 4.45 at Hamilton today.
The Tim Easterby trained gelding was last victorious at Thirk in July 2017 where he showed plenty of early dash before keeping on strongly to score easily by 2 3/4 lengths off a mark of 73.
He went on to be narrowly denied at Newcastle when rallying strongly and going down by a nose to Boy In The Bar off 79.
Kenny The Captain was also a slightly unlucky loser when beaten just a 1/2 length when second of 18 to Big Lachie at Doncaster last September before finishing a fine fourth of 23 to Lucky Lucky Man in the 23-runner class 2 Ayr Bronze Cup off 81.
He is now able to race off 56 and that makes him a huge player at the weights on the pick of his form in this class 5 – a grade in which he has a 20 per cent strike rate.
Kenny the Captain also comes into the race having run well from an unfavourable low draw at Thirsk when a keeping on 4 1/4 length sixth of 15 to Buccaneers Vault off 6lb higher and a solid third last time out at Carlisle off 57.
Judged on those displays he is ready to go in again.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Kenny The Captain (11/2 bet365, William Hill, Sky Bet, Unibet – BOG)
