Muffarreh makes plenty of appeal on handicap debut

Muffarreh looks on a potential handy mark on handicap debut now stepped up in trip in the 3.30 at Bath today and worth a wager at 13/2.

Barry Hills’ colt shaped with plenty of promise on his sole run as a juevnile when keeping on nicely to finish a never nearer ninth of 16 to White Lake at York, and also caught the eye on seasonal reappearance when staying on from off the pavce under tender handling to finish sixth of 12 to the now 107-rated Tashaar in a 1m maiden at Haydock.

The three-year-old has failed to bould on that in two subsequent outings, but wasn’t totally disgarced in the last of those over 7f at Ffos Las when fourth to War Strike.

To me he looks to have been crying out for a step up in distance, and this afternoon’s 1m 2f trip may well see him in a far better light.

An opening handicap mark of 63 looks very exploitable judged on his runs behind White Lake and Tashaar, and after just four starts he remains unexposed and open to further progress in what looks a weak class 5 contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Muffarreh (13/2 Paddy Power, Sky Bet – BOG)
