Musical Wedge ready to call the tune

Musical Wedge has been running really well of late and at 9/2 looks sure to take all the beating in the 4.30 at Towcester today.

Claire Dyson’s charge has really come into his own in recent months, showing improved form to slam For The Staff by 14 lengths over 3 miles at Taunton in November off a mark of 94 and finishing placed on his three subsequent starts.

The gelding failed by just a nose to follow-up that success off a 7lb higher mark at Exeter and then posted another solid effort when returned to that venue and coming third to the in-form Flying Award off 105.

He then shaped as if he was still at the top of his game here last time out when third of 13 to Gorghous Lliege and beaten just 6 lengths.

That race was over 3m 1f, and it it just seemed to stretch as he travelled really well until two from home before being unable to find any extra on the stiff uphill finish and losing second place close home.

The drop back to 2m 6f looks sure to suit judged on that run, and he gets into this off the same mark of 105.

I think that he is capable of winning from that mark based on his last two runs off it and with Nick Schofield in the saddle a huge run looks assured.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Musical Wedge (9/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
