Emeralds Spirit a real gem at 9/2
Emeralds Spirit has been running consistently well of late and makes plenty of appeal at 9/2 to can deserved success in the 4.30 at Musselburgh.
John Weyems’ filly was twice successful at up to 1m last season, with her last success coming under similar conditions to today at Ayr last September off a mark of 54.
Although now 6lb higher in the weights she has proved with a strong of creditable efforts in her last five starts that she is up to winning of her current mark.
She particularly caught the eye on her penultimate outing over 7f at Thirsk where she stayed on well under testing conditions to finish a 3 length third to Glenridding, and was far from disgraced last time out when fading late over a mile at this track to be fourth to Just The Tonic.
A repeat of either of those efforts would make her hard to beat in this line-up – especially as she has her optimum conditions this afternoon.

8/1 Doyouknowwhoiam ready to make a name for himself
Doyouknowwhoiam is a potential improver now switched to handicaps, and is of serious interest at 8/1 in the 4.50 at Musselburgh.
Bryan Smart’s colt was very disappointing last time out but before that had caught the eye in no uncertain fashion when finishing an ever nearer fourth of 9 to Ducth Heritage over 5f at Thirsk.
Held up towards the rear, the son of Monsieur Bond made stealthy headway a furlong from home and kept on really strongly without being unduly punished to be beaten 3 lengths.
To me that run had “nursery winner” written all over it, and today’s race is certainly not the strongest for him to be making his eagerly awaited debut in that sphere.
His opening mark of 62 could well underestimate his ability, and it’s also interesting that connections are fitting him with the visor for the first time.
Everything looks in place for a big run, and I would not be surprised to see money come for him before the off.
