Today’s tip is again courtesy of myracing.com and we’re heading off to Musselburgh for a novices’ hurdle to back 5/1 shot Slanelough in the 2.45pm contest.

The Rose Dobbin trained 5-year-old is yet to win a race under rules but has only had 3 outings and remains an unexposed sort who certainly has more to offer once connections figure out what his optimum conditions are.

After a couple of poor runs in January and February when sent off at big prices, he looked like one who might be better suited to handicaps but belied odds of 40/1 when running a massive race behind Reivers Lad at Kelso three weeks ago.muss

That form has taken a boost with the winner scoring again since and Slanelough caught the eye in no uncertain terms, running on into second place from well off the pace. Indeed, the stewards had a look but were happy that no wrongdoing had occurred on the part of the trainer or jockey.

It’s interesting to see them step the horse up in trip by 3 furlongs and that being combined with better ground could show him in an even better light. This race looks wide open to boot and a big run is expected to be forthcoming, particularly with more attacking tactics from Tony Kelly.

Dailysport recommended bet: 2pts Slanelough 2:45pm Musselburgh
