Nameitwhatyoulike shaped as if coming to the boil last time out and looks worth a wager at 14/1 in the opener at York today (1.45).

Mick Easterby’s gelding won a trio of handicaps im the mud last season, with his last success coming in a mile contest at Nottingham off a mark of 83.

However he also has plenty of solid form to his name on quick ground, and after two “quite” runs this season put in a much improved effort last time out when runner-up to Smarty Socks over course and distance last month on ground officially descriebd as good-to-firm.

The four-year-old travelled supremely well in that contest but after cruising into the lead at the furlong marker was uable to match the winners’ tunr of foot close home and got beat 1 3/4 lengths after edging right and taking a bump inside the last.

It was a cracking effort which suggested he would soon be back in the winners’ enclosure and he now meets Smarty Socks on 3lb better terms.

That may well be enough for him to turn the tables now that he is hitting top form, and he also runs this track well.

His handler also has his horses in good nick and likes nothing more than to have a winner at his local track, and although Nameitwhatyoulike has to race off a career-high mark in this off 90 he looked better than ever last time up and may well have more to offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Nameitwhatyoulike (14/1 888sport)
