London based Indian businessman Shyam Batra makes his promotional debut this coming Saturday at London’s WORLD FAMOUS York Hall when he stages his Malta Boxing Commission show ‘CALL OF DUTY’ headlined by Mark Prince v Jiri Svacina for the MBC internationla cruiserweight title.
Batra who is a longtime boxing fan and sponsor told DAILY SPORT Boxing “I’m very excited and looking forward to this Saturday’s event.
I’m not sure if it is true, but I have been told that I am the first Indian promoter of a professional boxing event in the UK.
I’d be keen to bring fights like these to Asia as well, hopefully the broadcasting of the event by Boxing Evolution may get some interest over there, it will go a long way towards that goal.
Boxing the way it is now in the UK is not like it was in the past, when there were champions like Lennox Lewis, Prince Naseem and the like, we just don’t seem to have champions like that here anymore, it’s split apart everywhere.
We need big names again, hopefully over the coming years we’ll develop those big names, we already have some very, very good fighters on our show, one or two, or even more of them could well become the Lennox or Naz of the future, they’re all that good.
I think if we can make a change, it would be a very good thing, not just for the sport but for the fans.”
And if all that wasn’t enough DAILY SPORT with our friends at Spearmint Rhino will be providing the RING GIRLS.
The CALL OF DUTY event is also available to watch live and exclusive on-line at www.boxingevolution.tv for just £4.99
