I’ve been busy scouring the ante post NFL markets for a bit of value, and have come to the conclusion that the Philadelphia Eagles look a maximum bet at 6/5 to win the NFC East.
The division is made up of the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, New York Giants and the Eagles and the team with the best winning record over the first 16 games is crowned champion.
These are the current division standings and odds after the first 7 games:
New York Giants 5-2 (7/4 General)
Philadelphia Eagles 3-4 (6/5 Ladbrokes)
Dallas Cowboys 3-4 (9/2 General )
Washington Redskins 3-4 (20/1 General)
Upon closer inspections Washington Redskins are out of the running because they still have to entertain the 49ers, Dallas, Jets, Patriots and the Vikings and I doubt they will get much out of them in the way of results and they still have to go to the Eagles and the Giants both will be tough asks away from home.
Dallas have tough games at home against the Bills and the Eagles and a tricky away visit to Tampa Bay which suggest they are facing a tall order to come out on top. There is also a big chance that their trademark implosions will happen, where they throw games away from winning positions are always in the back of our minds.
The Giants are a team who I don’t rate. Their offensive options are limited and they are the first team (along with the Redskins) who I look to oppose. They have nasty looking away visits to the Patriots, 49ers New Orleans and Dallas also they face the Packers, Eagles, Jets and Dallas at home and really are poor looking value at 7-4.
By stark contrast the Eagles have a dream run-in with games against the Bears, Arizona and Washington absolute gimmies and easy looking away treks to Seattle and whipping boys Miami.
Those fixtures make the Eagles look an outstanding bet at the 6/5 on offer to win the division. At those odds I have no hesitation in suggesting that they are worthy of a maximum punt.
