The dangerously well-handicapped The Nifty Fox has underfoot conditions to suit in the 3.40 at Ayr today and looks worth an each-way wager at 14/1 now reunited with jockey James Sullivan.
Tim Easterby’s charge is a course and distance winner, whose coming off a mark of 73 last June were stayed on strongly to beat Jedward by a head at Musselburgh.
The 10-year-old went on to finish a fair fourth of 78, and also ran well to finish third to Algar Lad over course and distance off 76.
His form then tailed off and he has only managed to make the frame once in 12 starts this season.
However, his mark has fallen dramatically as a result and he now gets into this off a career-low of just 53.
That is a massive 20lb lower than when last successful, and gives him a huge chance at the weights on the pick of his form.
The Nifty Fox also has plenty of good form on soft ground, and is now partnered by Sullivan for just the second time this year.
He was onboard when The Nifty Fox was last successful, and also steered him to victory in his two wins prior to that success.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way The Nifty Fox (14/1 bet365, William Hill – BOG)
