Noble Endeavor has a Grand chance in Irish National

Noble Endeavor makes plenty of appeal at 16/1 in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse today (5.00).

Gordon Elliott’s charge was a smart hurdler who finished a head second of 21 to Killutagh Vic in the 2015 running of the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

After shaping with promise when placed in his first two starts over fences last season, Noble Endeavor opend his account over the larger obstacles with a comfortable 2 1/2 length success at Down Royal.

The eight-year-old then ran well when a five length runer-up to Measureofmydreams in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown and was six lengths down and still in contention when falling two from home in the 4m National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Noble Endeavor has been in good form this season, finishing a fine fourth of 25 to Empire Of The Dirt in the Troytown Chase at the same venue before landing the ultra-competitive 28-runner Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas by 3 1/2 lengths from The Crafty Butcher.

He got hit with an 11lb rise for that success but ran a blinder of his revised rating of 154 when third to Un Temps Pour Tout in the Ultima Handicap Chase at last month’s Cheltenham Festival.

Proven form in big fields a plus
Although now 1lb higher in the weights he is clearly going the right way, looks the type who should have more to offer, and his proven form in big field handicaps is another plus.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Noble Endeavor (16/1 bet365 – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4,5)
