Oiseau overpriced to go one better

Oiseau De Nuit looks well treated in the 4.15 at Aintree and makes plenty of appeal at 12/1.

Colin Tizzard’s gelding won last year’s Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival off a mark of 145 and then ran a stormer in this when chasing home Silk Drum off 154.

He now gets into this year’s renewal off a 2lb lower rating of 152, and that gives him a huge chance at the weights judge on a couple of his runs this season.

The 10-year-old finished a fine third to Medermit in the Haldon Gold Cup on his return to action back in November, and ran a cracker when third to Finain’s Rainbow in the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton over Christmas.

He blundered when holding a slight advantage at the last that day, and only got headed 120 yards from the post to be beaten just 2 3/4 lengths by the subsequent Queen Mother winner to whom he was conceding 1lb.

Although he then disappointed in the Victor Chandler, something was clearly amiss as he was in the process of running a big race and still going well when being brought down five out in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham last time out.

With conditions in his favour and a young rider who gets on well with him taking another 7lb off his back everything looks in place for a huge run, and to me there is no way that he should be available to back at double figure odds.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Oiseau De Nuit (12/1 Betfred – BOG)
