Out Of The Blocks looks nicely treated on the pick of his form in the 5.30 at Ayr and with the blinkers on for the first time makes plenty of appeal at 9/1.

Ruth Carr’s charge is yet to get his head in front in 17 starts, but he ran some solid races as a juvenile when finishing runner-up four times including in a handicap over today’s course and distance off a mark of 64.

He now gets into this off a career-low of just 48 and shaped well four starts back at Catterick when finishing fifth of 15 to La Luz Del Sol off 55 after getting hampered in running before staying on to be beaten 3 3/4 lengths.

The three-year-old finished one place and 2 3/4 lengths behind Marcus Caesar that day but now meets that rival on 6lb better terms.

That should be enough to reverse the placings, and although the selection hasn’t run to the same level in three subsequent starts he didn’t run too badly last time out when putting in late work to finish 8th of 13 to Aeronwyn Bryn at Thirsk.

To me he looks like the type that will benefit from the fitting of the headgear, and now that he gets it for the first time it would be no surprise to see him exploit his falling mark and notch his first success.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Out Of The Blocks (9/1 BetVictor, Boylesports – BOG)
