Panic a decent punt at 12/1

There’s No Panic has been given a chance by the handicapper and makes plenty of appeal at 12/1 in the 3.35 at Sandown today.

Paul Nicholls’ charge won twice over fences in 2012, and although he has failed to get his head in front this year he has run a number of solid races – all at this track.

The eight-year-old stayed on well to finish a never nearer third of 8 to Richard’s Sundance over 3m 1f off a mark of 134, and then finished runner-up to Soll over the same trip off the same rating.

He then didn’t take to the National fences when unseating four out in the Topham at Aintree but then ran a highly creditable sixth of 19 to Quentin Collonges in the bet365 Gold Cup over today’s course and distance off 134.

The gelding then ran well below par when pulled up on his seasonal reapperance at Ascot last month but quickly left that run behind when putting in a far more encouraging effort last time out at the same venue when keeping on to finish an eye-catching 5th of 12 to Night Alliance off 132 without being knockked about.

The handicapper has since dropped him a further 3lb to a mark of 129, and that is the lowest he has raced off over fences.

It gives him a big shout at the weights if he can build on his recent effort, and it would be no surprise to see him do so at a track where he has some solid form to his name.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way There’s No Panic (12/1 BetVictor, Coral, Paddy Power, Stan James – BOG)
