Pendleton worth another chance at Haydock

Pendleton had no chance when beaten last time out from a poor draw, so looks worth a wager at 9/2 to prove he is potentially on a handy mark in the 6.20 at Haydock today.

That run came over course and distance where he finished a never nearer seven length fifth of 11 to Came From The Dark on bottomless ground in a race in which low numbers dominated and Pendelton ran from the widest berth in stall 14.

Prior to that the Michael Dods trained three-year-old had scored in good style on seasonal reappearance in six-runner maiden auction stakes at Newcastle when beating You Little Ripper by 1/2 a lenghth.

After racing with the leader, Pendleton up the running travelling stronglty at the furlong marker and then only had to be pushed out to score with more in hand than the winning margin suggests.

It was taking performance and You Little Ripper was rated 79 goingh into the contest.

The pair also pulled 4 1/2 lengths clear of the third home Delachance who has since run really well to go down by just a head to the well-regarded Local History at Yarmouth and second to a nice type at Hamilton.

That gives theform a solid look and suggested an opening handicap mark of 82 for Pendleton may well have been on the lenient side.

So given that he has been dropped 2lb since his handicap debut here, it makes him off real interest in this off 80 now returned to a quicker surface.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts Pendleton win Pendleton (9/2 Paddy Power – BOG)
