Perfect Candidate weighted to strike

Having become well-treated and shaped well on seasonal reappearance, Perfect Candidate makes plenty of appeal in the 3.10 at Exeter today now dropped in grade.

This Fergal O’brien trained 12-year=old is a course and distance winner who was last successful in a Grade 3 class 1 contest at Cheltenham in November 2017 when beating Vincente by a neck off a mark of 152.

He also ran well at that venue back in Janury when third to Beware The Bear in a class 2 off 143 and there was lots to like about his recent run at Chepstow in the same grade when a 5 1/3 length fourth of nine to Vieux Lion Rouge off 133.

Perfect Candidate raced with plenty of enthusiasm in the latter, and after gettng headed between the last two only weakened out of contention in the closing stages.

He looks sure to strp fitter for that and tha assessor appears to have been very kind in dropping him anothet couple of pounds.

He is now able to race off 131, a massive 21lb lower than when last victorious, and that makes him a huge player from a handicapping perspective in this lower grade class 3 contest.

Underfoot conditions are also fine and the stable is in fine form, so there is nothing not to like about Perfect Candidate’s chances in this.
