Perfect Girl has shown enough to suggest she could be on a handy mark in the 6.20 at Newcastle today and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 12/1.
Tim Easterby’s filly has had just four starts and looked a work in progress who has been brought along steadily worth nurseries in mind.
She ran well on debut at Carlisle when missing the break badly and finding herself well behind before making headway to chase the leaders two from home and weakening at the furlong marker to finish a 5 1/2 lengths fifth of nine to Fast Act.
The winner is a useful sort who has gone on to finish runner-up in a Group 3 at Goodwood and a fine fourth in a Group 2 at Doncaster and is now rated 105, and the fourth home Danot has won twice since and finsihed an excellent runner-up in a class 2 contest at Ayr last week off 75.
The seventh home Invincible Wish has also won, and that gives the form a strong look in the context of this contest and makes Perfect Girl’s mark of 60 look exploitable.
Although Perfect Girl has failed to make the frame in three subsequnt starts, she has not been knocked about and will find this class 6 contest far easier than a hot little class 4 nursery that she ran in at Thirsk last week on handicap debut.
She was far from disgraced when finishing fifth of eight to a useful sort in Twilight Son, and the first four home in that contest where all rated in the 70s.
