Pivotman may well get an easy lead in the 2.30 at Doncaster today and looks worth a punt at 10/1 now dropped into claiming company.

Mick Easterby’s charge was in terrific form over the winter on the all-weather when scoring three times, with the last of those successes coming off his current rating of 78 in a 1m 4f contest at Kempton.

The seven-year-old was also far from disgraced in a class 2 contest over 1m 1f at Wolverhampton when fifth of six to Tryster when leading until weakening approahcing the  final furlong to be beaten just over 11 lengths from 2lb out of the handicap.

Although Pivotman has failed to shine in two starts this season and been beaten 11 lengths and 57 lengths, he had been beaten 148 lengths and 20 lengths on his first two starts after a lay-off before suddenly bouncing back to form and enjoying his winning spell on the all-weather.

Today’s small field also consists of horses that like to come from off the pace, and Pivotman may well be able to get an easy lead and dominate from the off in the hands of 7lb claimer Danielle Mooney.

If that proves to be the case then he could be difficult to peg back if on-song.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Pivotman (10/1 Paddy Power – BOG)
