Plough Boy has been knocking on the door of late and looks worth a wager at 7/1 to open his account in the 1.45 at Lingfield today.
Willie Musson’s colt didn’t show much in his first two runs in maiden company but then caught the eye when staying on late under tender handling to finish fourth of 10 to Morally Bankrupt in a 7f cliamer at Kempton.
Like many of the runners from the stable he looked to be being brought along steadilu with handicaps in mind, and since being switched to that sphere he has shown improved form in his last two starts.
On the first of those he got beat just a length by Starlight Princess in a 12-runner 7f contest at Kempton where after tracking the leaders he was ridden to take up the running a furlong from home until being headed inside the last and then staying on again.
The handicapper put him up 2lb for that run to a mark of 55, but it didn’t stop him putting in an improved effort last time out over a mile at Kempton when staying on from off the pace to be beaten just 1/2 a length into third behind Dutchartscholar in a blanket finish.
That run suggested it wouldn’t be long before he got his head in front, and although now up a further 2lb he looks to be going the right way and remains open to further improvement.
Off bottom weight in this he receives lumps of weight from the top two in the market, and with Chris Catlin in the saddle evcerything looks in place for a big run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Plough Boy (7/1 Betfred, Hills – BOG)
