Plumpton Punts

Renee Robson has her team in terrific form and Silver Wren looks good value at 8/1 to make a winning debut over hurdles in the 1.20 at Plumpton.

The filly shaped with plenty of promise in two bumper runs last season, most notably when staying on strongly on her final start at Market Rasen to finish an eye-catching never nearer 4 length third of 13 to Toubeera.

That race was over 2m 1f, and she really shaped like the stayer she is bred to be.

It’s therefore interesting that connections are upping her in trip to 2m 5f for her first start over hurdles, and there is little doubt in my mind that she has the potential to ultimately be far better than the rivals she faces today.

The fact that she has not yet jumped a hurdle in public is obviously a slight concern, but I am told that she has been schooling well at home and this isn’t the strongest of contest by any means.

Providing she puts in a decent round of jumping she must take all the beating, and at the 15/2 on offer she looks an each-way steal.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Silver Wren (8/1 Hills – BOG)

Tecktal worth a tickle at 8s

Tecktal found the soft going all against her last time out and looks worth another chance at 8/1 in the 4.05 at Plumpton today.

I put up Pat Phelan’s charge when she was heavily backed at Fontwell 10 days ago, and she raced really strongly at the head off affairs weakening out of contention on the rain softened ground to finish a well beaten 6th of 12 to Caunay.

To my eyes she showed enough to suggest that she was up to winning a race of this nature on better going, and the quicker going this afternoon looks sure to see her in better light.

Although she has yet to win over hurdles she is still lightly raced for an eight-year-old and prior to Fontwell and had run caught the eye on a couple of occasions.

She rounded off last season with two solid thirds and her effort on her final start behind Sovereign Spirit suggest she could be well treated from her current mark of just 71.

With Richie Killoran in the saddle she receives lumps of weight from all bar two of her rivals and loks to have been found a nice opportunity to open her account over the sticks.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Tecktal (8/1 generally available – BOG firms)
