Precious Ground shaped nicely last time out and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 18/1 in the 2.10 at Warwick today.

Kevin Bishop’s gelding hinted at ability in maiden/novice hurdles before showing improved form to finish third of 8 to Unefille De Guye on handicap debut at Exeter when last seen in action.

After being held-up at the rear and jumping left, the five-year-old made headway to thrown down a challenge three from home until the final flight before being unable to find any extra in the final 150 yards to be beaten 5 3/4 lengths.

The runner-up Positive Vibes had won hos previos race, and the fourth home Steel Summit – who finished 10 lengths behind Precious Ground in receipt of 1lb – has since gone on to rattle off a four-timer and is now rated 130.

That form reads well in the context of this contest and suggests that Precious Ground is potentially nicely treated off an unchanged mark of 91.

The selection also remains open to improvemnet after just four starts over the obstacles, and in receipt of weight from all his rivals looks overpriced at the odds on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Precios Ground (18/1 Sky Bet – BOG)
