Elysian Prince looks overpriced at 22/1 on the pick of his form in the 4.50 at Southwell now dropped back down in trip.
Paul Cole’s colt shaped with promise on his juvenile debut before landing a maiden in good style by 4 1/2 lengths over a mile at Lingfield.
He went on to finish an unlucky second on his handicap debut over the same course and distance off a mark of 75, where he hit the rail an dlost his action two from home whne in the lead before rallying to go down by just a neck to Castle Combe.
The son of Champs Elysees was then far from disgraced on his first start this year when looking in need of the run and staying on late from the rear of the field to finish a never dangerous fourth of 7 to Devilment in a class 3 handicap over 1m 3f at Kempton.
Elysian Prince was then unsuited by the slow pace when finishing a well-beaten 7th of 8 to Arab Dawn over 1m 3f last time out, and should not be spot on to do himself justice.
The handicapper has been quick to drop him a couple of pounds to 76, and with the promising Luis Steward taking anotrher 5lb off his back he looks well-weighted on the pick of his form.
It’s also interesting that connections are dropping Elysian Prince back down to a mile for his fibresand debut, the distance over which he his two best races, and if ridden prominently it would be no suprise to see him run a huge race.
I certainly don’t think he should be availabel to back at 22/1, and at those odds he looks well worth an each-way punt.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Elysian Prince (22/1 Hills – BOG)
