The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe takes place at Longchamp on Sunday and Boylesports are betting on how old the winner will be. Three-year-olds have won seven of the last eight renewals, but that age bracket is second favourite at 11/8 behind four-year-olds at evens. Five or older is 4/1.
The Irish firm have France as the 10/11 favourite to train the winner, with England 5/2, Ireland 4/1 and any other country 10/1.
The French stewards have a reputation for being very strict and it’s 7/4 that there will be a stewards’ enquiry and 12/1 for the horse first past the post to be stripped of the race.
“There was a very long wait after Dylan Thomas came home in front of Youmzain in 2008 and you wouldn’t put it past the French stewards to change the result on Sunday,” comments Boylesports Head of PR Leon Blanche. “It’s shaping up to be a very interesting race and with a warm weather forecast for Paris, the quick ground horses could come to the fore.”
