Quigg v Simion named as IBF final eliminator

Scott Quigg’s bout with Viorel Simion this Saturday [April 29] on the Joshua v Klitstchko undercard has been ordered as an IBF World featherweight eliminator.

Quigg has his first outing under new trainer Freddie Roach knows the importance of this fight as a win over the Romanian will place the Bury hero in line for a showdown with Welsh IBF world champion Lee Selby if mandatory challenger Jonathan Barros is unavailable.

“It’s a great opportunity for Scott and with the uncertainty over Jonathan Barros it’s very likely that the winner in Saturday will have to fight Lee Selby next,” promoter Eddie Hearn told DAILY SPORT Boxing. “It’s a fight Scott is targeting and one he would jump at so Saturday’s win now becomes even more vital.”
