Quloob up for the JLT Cup

Quloob caught the eye on seasonal reappearance and makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the JLT Cup at Newbury todday (2.25).

Owen Burrows’ charge took off when sent handicapping last season, winning off an opening mark of 71 in a class 5 contest at Bath before going on to complete the hat-trick in a class 3 at Newmakret off 87.

Quloob then got hit with a further 7lb rise but rounded off the campaogn with a fine effort off his revised rating of 94 when beaten only a neck Dubawi Fifty at Nottingham.

The winner is a progressive sort who has won twice since and finished a fine second at Royal Ascot when last seen in action and that gives the form a solid look.

There was lots to like about Quloob’s return to action over 1m 6f at Newmarket last month when fifth of 13 to Amazing Red where he travelled well for much of the contest before keeping on at the one pace from the two marker under tender handling be beaten 6 3/4 lengths.

He shaped as if needing th outing and that should have put him spot on. It was also an effort which suggested the extra two furlongs in this would suit and a rating of 98 should not be beyond him.

Quloob also appeals as the type that should have even more to offer, relishes quick ground, and hails from a yard in goof form.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Quloob (8/1 Betfair, Paddy Power – BOG, paying 5 places 1/5)
