Be My Rock has been given a real chance by the handicapper and at 9/2 rates a solid bet to take advantage and open her account in the 5.20 at Leicester today now upped in trip and dropped in grade.
Rae Guest’s fiully had some solid form when making the frame on her first three starts last season, most notably when runner-up to Virewpoint in the final of those in a 15 runner mile maiden contest at Nottingham.
Although no mtach for the 3 3/4 length winner she kept on well after pulling hard in the eary stages and the winner has gone on win three times since – including a competitive class 2 handicap at Goodwood off a mark of 91.
The selection was given an opening mark of 75 on the back of that effort and finished a staying on third off it in a 7f apprentice handicap at Doncaster.
She then wasn’t at her best when well beaten on her seasonal reappearance at Kempton before finishing a 13 length runner-up to Inaad at Pontefract in a maiden where she was trounced by a well-thought of sort.
The daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar was then pitched back into handicap company for her latest start at Windsor, where she stayed on without being able to find a change of gears to finish a 3 3/4 length fourth of 8 to Jana’s Jingle.
That race was over a mile, and to me she will appreciate the step up to 1m 2f today judged on what I have seen from her so far.
The handicapper has dropped her anotyher 2lb since that run, and she now gets into this off just 65.
That makes sher looke potentially well-treated on the pick of her form, especially based on her run behind Viewpoint.
She also has the services in the saddle of the talented young Oisin Murphy for the first time, and this looks a nice opening for her to break her duck now dropped into class 6 company for the first time.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Be My Rock (9/2 bet365, Betfred, Stan James – BOG)
