Rajdhani Express looks just the ticket in Melling Chase

Rajdhani Express looks to hold outstanding credential in the Betfred Melling Chase at Aintree today (3.05) and is strongly fancied at 5/1 to land the spoils.

Nicky Henderson’s gelding was a progressive sort last season, winning the Rewards4Racing Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and following up with a very easy 15 length victory in a Grade 2 contest at Ayr.

The seven-year-old has only had two starts this season, but has looked better than ever.

In the first of those he finished fifth of 20 to John’s Spirit in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham, where he kept on to be beaten 8 1/2 lengths.

He then stepped up on that effort  last time out when a cracking third of 11 to Dynaste in the Ryanair Chase the the Cheltenham Festival where he travelled really strongly for most of the 2m 5f contest and stayed on well after being slightly impeded at the last to be beaten just 4 1/2 lengths.

The form of that race got a boost yesterday when Dynaste ran a solid race to finish a 1 1/2 length runner-up to Silviniaco Conti in the Betfred Bowl, and the selection is entitled to come on again on what will be just his third start of this campaign.

He looks to be peaking at the right time, comes into the contest fresh, and has the services of Sam Waley-Cohen who gets on well with him and rode a peach of a race to win the Fox Hunters’ Chase on Warne yesterday.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Rajdhani Express (5/1 bet365, BetVictor, Coral, Stan James – BOG)
