Right Option has been given a massive chance by the handicapper and has to be of major interest at 9/2 in the 4.20 of Ludlow now that he has the ground he desires.
John Flint’s gelding has shown nothing in two starts since coming back from a 646 day lay-off – being pulled up on both occasions.
However he was a decent sort back in 2010 before being hit by injury, winning two races in the style of a progressive handicapper.
He put up a career best performance when landing a competitive class 2 handicap at Cheltenham off a mark of 115 and went on to finish a solid third to Estates Recovery at Exeter off 120.
The eight-year-old now races off a career-low mark of just 105, and that gives him a huge chancing from a handicapping perspective in a weak looking class 4 contest.
He obviously needs to bounce back from his runs this season, but they have come on ground which is softer than he likes and today’s goo-to-firm is right up his street.
It was the same going when he scored at Cheltenham, and his other win that season also came on good ground.
His shrewd handler has also proved time and time again that form figures of PP mean little when a horse is well treated and has his ideal conditions, and to me he looks a plot waiting to happen.
He certainly couldn’t have been found a better opening if back to anywhere near his best, and at 9/2 is simply too well treated to ignore.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 5pts win Right Option (9/2 Stan James)
